St. Joseph Church was festively decorated for Christ's birth. Beautiful hymns were sung at all Masses, especially at the midnight Mass led by Mark Roszczewski and the choir. The altar servers were recognized for their service and presented cross necklaces blessed by Father Kryzysztof and Father Gabriel. This year, the altar servers made ornaments to decorate the tree on 'St. Joseph's side' and the Children of Mary decorated the tree on 'Mary's side' by the navity.
"And it came to pass, when the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, 'Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing that is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us." Luke 2:15
May everyone have a blessed Christmas season.
What does Jesus’ birth mean to me?
Responses from the altar servers December 2009 Ranging in age from 9 to 17 years old.
Robert W.: The birth of Jesus is important to me because the Savior that everyone was talking about was born.
Tyler B.: Jesus’ birth means holy lives.
Matt B.: To me, Jesus’ birth is a time of rejoicing because it signals that God wanted to save us from sin and did this by sending his only Son to save us.

November 28, 2009 at 5:15 p.m. Father Krzysztof and Father Gabriel hosted an appreciation pizza party for our wonderful altar servers and their families. Reportedly, a good time was had by all as there was much socializing, board game playing and of course eating pizza and yummy goodies brought in to share. Mrs. Christine Welton, coordinator, imparted a few words to approximately 60 guests in attendance. “All of you are so important to our altar server ministry. We are so proud of your commitment and dedication. It is remarkable that many of our servers start from the time they are first eligible after receiving First Holy Communion on through 12th grade. It says a lot about the spirituality of our families here at St. Joseph’s. Our children really desire to be up on the altar serving Jesus and our parents are wonderfully supportive, getting them here to prepare and serve. That’s what tonight is all about. Saying thank you and showing our appreciation to you.” She also thanked our senior servers: Tim, Ben, Luke, David and Tom, assisting Fr. Gabriel, who generously gave of their time to help prepare our seven newest servers whenever called upon this past year. She and Fr. Krzysztof noted as our oldest servers move on, they look to the experienced servers coming up to also mentor the younger ones. We are fortunate to have many youngsters showing promising leadership. Our parish is so blessed to have so many active and involved families. Our altar servers bring a special joy to our parish. In appreciation for their special service, Fr. Krzysztof and Father Gabriel gave each altar server a rosary from the Holy Land. Both Fathers Krzysztof and Gabriel recently went on retreat there and were able to celebrate a Mass at Jesus’ tomb especially for the people of our parish. Father Krzysztof explained, as he offered his Mass, he had laid the rosaries on Jesus’ tomb and brought them home for our altar servers to give them on this day.

October 4, 2009 at the 9:30 a.m. Mass, Father Krzysztof installed three new altar servers: Gabrielle M., Robert W., and Brandon E. It was beautiful with twenty altar servers and the Children of Mary participating in this special ceremony to support these three youngsters as they chose to serve Jesus on the altar. After Father's blessing, our new server's parents helped their children put on the their cassocks and surplices before they were escorted onto the altar to serve in their very first Liturgy of the Eucharist. Siblings of Gabrielle and Robert; Lauren and Marta presented the gifts to Father at the altar. Our parish is very blessed to have so many young people involved in a special way. Please keep all of our alter servers in your prayers.
