Pastoral Council

The Pastoral Council, made up of lay memebers of the parish community, serves as a consultative body to the Pastor to promote the spiritual growth of the parish community and to plan ways for the parish to carry out the mission of the church.

From the By-Laws, -

Article II, - Specifically, the Council will:

* Pray together to seek God's will for the parish.

* Establish goals and objectives that will enable the parish to carry out its mission.

* Provide leadership, direction, education, resources and encouragement in accordance with the goals of the parish.

* Identify, support and maximize the gifts and talents of all members of the parish and encourage, develop and train lay ministers with diverse skills.

* Provide an open forum of communication and dialogue among all members of the parish.

Article III, Section 2- Eligibility and Attendance

Any registered, confirmed parishioner 16 years of age or older who worships regularly with the community is eligible for membership. Such a person must be willing to attend an orientation workshop to prepare for ministry on the Council.

Article IV, Section 3- Selection of Members

The names of all eligible nominees will be placed on the altar while the parish prays for guidance and direction from the Holy Spirit. The names of members will be randomly drawn at Sunday Mass by someone appointed by the Pastor.


Meetings - 2nd Monday of every other month, Sept. - June (unless otherwise noted).

Two meetings a year are designated as open meetings where any parishioner may come and voice their opinions and concerns, as well as attend any other meeting as an observer during the year.

The Parish of St. Joseph Church, Rockville, is a Roman Catholic faith community of the
Diocese of Norwich, CT which is united to the Catholic Church throughout the world.

As a parish, we invoke the Holy Spirit to put the love of Christ into action by providing for the
spiritual nourishment of the community living according to the Gospel message of Jesus Christ reaching out to those in need sharing with others the gifts and talents we have received from God extending the love of Christ to all people
